LOST – five minute friday linkup

This summer is lost to waiting…… doctor appointments, hospital phone calls, scheduling, waiting; of work and of summer session junior college for my sweet girl.  We are on hold.  So many speak of summer plans and slowing down and days at the beach, the river, home; all having fun, resting and being refreshed.  Lost….it’ll be a summer lost but it’s also a summer of healing, it may be lost be it will be redeemed for God is in control and He IS GOOD, His way may not be understood but it is THE BEST.

And this from kaitlyn_bouch

from Lisa Jo’s site:

So, here’s the skinny: every Friday for going on four years now hundreds of people have joined a kind of writing flash mob over here. – See more at:

April goals; yes, I know we’re in to April now IT’S NOW MAY (!?!) but I feel the need to get some goals down – cause they are written but not “out there” and I’m slacking well let’s call it “failing forward” (as Ann Voskamp spoke of regarding daughters piano recital)

Personal goals:
*finish reading “say goodbye to survival mode” by Crystal Paine and You’re going to be okay” by Holley Gerth  May update: finished “Say Goodbye”. “You’re OK” will have to wait until June to get back to it
*finish the “Holey, Wholly, Holy” companion workbook by Kris Camealy May update: still slowly plugging along
*blog 2 times (1 being these goals; 2 being my thoughts on chocolate, stay tuned) May update: well you can see that didn’t happen; so we’ll just keep it on the list
*practice kindness, mercy, forgiveness; live transformed; grace; renewed May update:  still working on this, it will stay on my list
*choose JOY, taking refuge in my Lord and Savior; remembering who I am because of Him May update:  still working on this, it will stay on my list

Health/fitness goals:
*exercise 20-30 minutes 5 days per week May update:  still working on this, it will stay on my list
*complete 5k on the 26th run/jogging 75% of the time; bonus goal – achieve a PR (personal record) YES! I did this! (by a whole 38 seconds)
*eat clean, whole food 90% of the week Probably more at a 70% but still getting better and will continue to work on it

Home management:
*utilize chore chart 2-3 days per week has not been happening; someday (but why not today?)
*try Thursdays for grocery shopping for 3 weeks has not happened yet
*create an “ideal” weekend schedule this is changing to “how much fun can we fit into this summer” (with some pretty big HAVE TO’s)

*1 date night – scheduled We’ve had one in April and one in May
*weekly at home dates “kinda sorta” could be better

*enjoy Easter together YES! It was great!

*cash spending mostly keeping to cash
*budget dates has not happened

Goals for Year:
*read through the Bible (over 100 days in now & still on track) YouVersion plan “Reading God’s Story: One-Year Chronological Plan” (Day 108I’m still slowly plugging away (a few days “behind” though)
*2 weekend trips with hubby (with no kids) (also a marriage goal) (have 1 scheduled to celebrate our anniversary) Had our early anniversary night away and it was awesome!

Linking Up with “You’re Not Alone {Coffee for Your Heart}”

Linking up with Holley Gerth and Coffee for Your Heart! from her website:

“The concept is simple: You’re an encourager so I’m asking you to pour out a little love to others with your words every Wednesday. The writing prompt I gave you last week was, “You’re not alone.” Now it’s time to link up your blog post or leave a comment sharing how you used that prompt to encourage someone this week!”

Oh sweet sister, I know you feel alone … surrounded by all those people around you … you feel oh so alone.  I’ve been there, am there still sometimes, this introvert that craves community (in)real life but has been hurt and has hurt others in return like a trapped and hurting wild animal seeking safety and yet not knowing/accepting it was right there all along.

God has promised to meet us (me) right where we are (I am).  He is there for His precious daughters that he has covered and redeemed and bought and adopted and called HIS OWN.  God brings that peace and healing and washing to each of His precious children and restores us.  He makes us whole and fills our voids, just turn to Him and ask …

If I were sitting with you in front of a fire and a hot mug of deliciousness, I would tell you, “We are not alone, sweet sister.  We are in this together and even better than that we have an Abba Daddy who cares and sustains us.  Cling tight to Him, sweet sister; let Him fill those voids and together wherever we are, we will dance and sing praise to Him.”

Transform 2

My prayer and goal for the year: that me & my family are healthy, strong, believing and trusting that God is able to do SO much more than we can possibly imagine, dream for, hope for. That we honor Him by doing those good works He created us to do.

There are a few roadblocks I can see right now (understanding there may be more) but I am putting my hope and trust in God that He will complete this work, this dream, He has given me. I will keep pressing on toward the prize and running (walking? Crawling? As needed?) falling forward (thank you Ann Voskamp) because that journey is not alone and the journey itself is worth it and so is the prize at the end.

November – A month of Thanksgiving

Well, a little late but I will hit that publish button anyhow… Even though it’s now January 2014…

31 days of October are gone; November is upon us; 8 weeks until 2014; time goes by so fast and all my good intentions are just that intentions & fruit? Not seeing it (much). So I will be studying Nehemiah (ends at Thanksgiving); finishing the Hello Mornings Glorious Grace study; and seeking something for Advent. November and December will be a chance to slow and seek His face, give thanks no matter my circumstances, and keep on keeping on. I printed a freebie from Elissa Pullium on embracing transformation through intentionally giving thanks (here)

So my friend Eliza posted ( ) about finishing the year strong. My friend Heather talks of being still and having a melodious heart (; the inspiring Ann Voskamp talks of counting gifts and living a life of eucharisteo

This year I chose a “one word” instead of resolutions – it being Eucharisteo: living a life of grace, thanksgiving, joy.

It ties into so much of what I’ve learned yet am still learning to apply: being transformed, sanctified, testing to know the will of God, shining bright the light Christ has provided in me, seeking Him first.

So as I seek to finish this year strong, refocusing on the priority of my walk with God I ask (borrowed & revised from Katie Orr at Hello Mornings Call to Prayer) that you would join me as I pray for wisdom and direction; that I be ever on the heels of Gods will; that I would stay in step with His Spirit; that He would make it clear what my “wall” is like He did for Nehemiah.

As I do this, I will continue to work on creating daily household chore habits (have slacked off for a while); eating whole healthy foods (Daniel Plan inspired); and exercising. While being the best wife, momma, friend & employee I can be.

How can I pray for you?

Grace & peace…

Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind -Rom 12:2

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. -Col 3:15

Let your conversation be always full if grace, seasoned with salt, so that you know how to answer everyone -Col 4:6

The way you think determines the way you feel, & the way you feel determines the way you act” The DanielPlan by RickWarren

Being transformed is a theme that has been put in front of me for the past few months. It begins in my mind but only through the help of the Holy Spirit, the strength of Christ and my submission (ooh, there’s a controversial subject) to my Lord and Savior. Transform is my “one word” for the year yet it’s so much more than that. It encompasses so much that I’m scared to write this out.

I’m spending time I prayer and meditation on what specifically needs transforming. My church just started the DanielPlan so I’m using that to start. But I keep coming back to “renew your mind”. There are thoughts and attitudes that need transformation; and only because of Christ can that happen. So. I will be focusing on transforming my thoughts, starting with gratitude and encouraging thoughts and words.

Things I’m thankful for:
*accidents with no physical injuries
*peace from God, which I truly don’t understand yet it’s there, it calms me, it keeps me strong
*the internet for finding an incredible community of women
*for a church family
*for an awesome small group to share life with
